G. Friedman FENCING REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT
Severe weather, high winds, moisture, termites, and accidents can damage your fence. Or maybe it’s just very old and it’s time to replace your fence. Generally, if more than 20% of your fence is damaged it may be more cost effective to replace it than attempt a repair.
Here are a few examples of the fencing materials available today:
- Wood. Tried and true, wood is a favorite of many homeowners. Wood fencing is relatively inexpensive, however it is susceptible to moisture and termite damage. Also, when repairing a wood fence keep in mind that the repaired area will not match the existing fence, as the existing wood will have become weathered. This is easily remedied with a coat of paint or stain.
- Chain link fencing is very durable, but may start to rust.
- Wrought iron fencing can be very beautiful, but it is expensive and must be maintained, as it will rust.
- Vinyl fencing is known for it’s durability and it does not weather, so it’s no problem to repair or replace a portion of it, as the new vinyl will blend in with the existing fence.
