Severe weather, high winds, moisture, termites, and accidents can damage your fence. Or maybe it’s just very old and it’s time to replace your fence. Generally, if more than 20% of your fence is damaged it may be more cost effective to replace it than attempt a repair.

Here are a few examples of the fencing materials available today:

  • Wood. Tried and true, wood is a favorite of many homeowners. Wood fencing is relatively inexpensive, however it is susceptible to moisture and termite damage. Also, when repairing a wood fence keep in mind that the repaired area will not match the existing fence, as the existing wood will have become weathered. This is easily remedied with a coat of paint or stain.
  • Chain link fencing is very durable, but may start to rust.
  • Wrought iron fencing can be very beautiful, but it is expensive and must be maintained, as it will rust.
  • Vinyl fencing is known for it’s durability and it does not weather, so it’s no problem to repair or replace a portion of it, as the new vinyl will blend in with the existing fence.
